#WomenAreSacred film

Set to premier on Indigenous Peoples Day (October 13th) in Minneapolis

bfreshproductions invites you to the screening of our latest documentary-- Manidoowaadiziwag Ikwewag (Women Are Sacred). Join us on Indigenous Peoples Day in Minneapolis for the Twin Cities premier. RSVP HERE.

Manidoowaadiziwag Ikwewag (Women Are Sacred) is an education and training tool that chronicles the first-hand stories of American Indian women survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse with disabilities from the White Earth Nation.

The film highlights the work of the Minnesota Accessing Paths to Safety Project, or MAPS Project, and chronicles the survivors' history and tradition, the impact of historical trauma and intergenerational grief, and the resources available for survivors on and around the reservation.

Dig deep into the everyday work of committed advocates and service providers at the MAPS pilot sites as they explore traditional methodologies, and best practices for providing culturally-appropriate crime victim and disability services.
Join us, as we imagine a hopeful vision for future generations and in honoring the Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration at the Minneapolis American Indian Center (MAIC), 1530 E Franklin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404, on Monday, October 13 2014, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. The screening will take place from 6:00pm – 7:00pm (Second Floor Auditorium MAIC) with Q&A following the screening.
There will be appetizers and refreshments provided by Cheo Smith and "The Sioux Chef" Sean Sherman. Carpooling and public transportation encouraged! For more information about the Minneapolis Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration, visit HERE.

We look forward to celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day with you on Monday, October 13, 2014.
