Increase Engagement in the Classroom and Workplace
How can the humanities bring to life the stories of people and place?
Facilitated by Robin Nelson and Heid E. Erdrich, participants in this workshop will learn how to increase engagement with their communities through the practice of the core values of the Absent Narrative Approach:
Date: Saturday, September 20, 2014
- Build and strengthen relationships;
- Recognize the power of story and the consequences of an accumulation of absence;
- Learn from community voices; and
- Discover community-based solutions.
Time: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Location: Minnesota Humanities Center
Cost: $90 per person, includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and materials
CEUs: 8 clock hours upon request
This event is funded in part with money from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund that was created by a vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008, and the
National Endowment for the Humanities.
"The event was informative and the perspectives/community voices were critical to learn about and rarely addressed in schools and in public/political dialogue.
"I met several educators and facilitators whose stories enriched my experience.
"[I learned about] stories and the role they play in knowing and honoring ourselves and others.
