The 2013 Local Government Innovation Awards open next Tuesday, seeking submissions of the best examples of schools, cities, and counties innovating to reduce costs and improve services. Join educators, city and county professionals, and engaged citizens to explore the landscape of cross-sector and cross-community innovation in Minnesota's delivery of public services.

Spencer Cronk, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Administration
Commissioner Cronk will share his previous experience working in Mayor Bloomberg's Administration in New York City and his current statewide perspective related to inter-agency and cross-sector collaboration creating a leaner, more cost-effective government that delivers high quality, professional services to citizens. 
Through this event you will:
  • Meet others innovating across counties, cities and schools
  • Learn about examples of local innovation in the delivery of public services
  • Hopefully be inspired to nominate or submit an innovation to this year’s Local Government Innovation Awards! 
This event is being held as part of this year’s Local Government Innovation Awards program – an annual program to recognize the creative ways counties, cities, and schools are making Minnesota better and doing things differently.

EDTalks is coming to our capital city in September and you're invited to talk creativity, innovation, and education! The night's program will feature a diverse and fascinating slew of presenters. Make sure to dress your best, as portions of the event will be filmed by Twin Cities Public Television for broadcast in November and January!

EDTalks - a lively series of networking and education events designed to engage young professionals in public education issues - will move to St. Paul in September and feature interactive activities and presentations focused on Creativity, Innovation and Education. Portions of the event will be filmed by Twin Cities Public Television for broadcast in November and January.
This special event will feature:
  • Pre-show demonstrations by Urban Debaters, FIRST Robotics and Youth Thrive
  • TED TALKS EDUCATION video by Sir Ken Robinson, English author, speaker and international advisor on education and the arts for government, education and arts organizations.
  • University of St. Catharine Professor Yvonne Ng on STEM education
  • Fathering Center Director John Turnipseed on Mentorship
  • Juxtapositional Arts Artistic Director Roger Cummings on Art and Learning
  • A networking and learning exchange following the presentations
This special EDTalks is presented by AchieveMpls and The Citizens League in partnership with Twin Cities Public Television, Young Education Professionals-Twin Cities and DRIVE Emerging Leaders. The program is sponsored by a generous donation from the Verne C. Johnson Family Foundation and a grant received from WNET New York Public Media as part of TED TALKS EDUCATION, the first-ever TED project specifically produced for television and part of American Graduate: Let's Make It Happen.

You're Invited: 2013 MINN at Work Event

An annual peer-to-peer learning event, MINN at Work provides international NGO practitioners a forum to share specific program or project-related challenges and engage in open dialogue with others about best practices and possible solutions. Representatives from OneVillage Partners and Children's Heartlink will present and then engage with with participants in open Q & A. Bring your critical thinking hat and join in on the problem-solving!

You're Invited: Arts Partnership Young Professionals Tour

The Arts Partnership is a unique collaboration of four organizations - Minnesota Opera, The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, The Schubert Club, and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. A national model for how arts organizations can thrive together, their Young Professionals organizations invite you to a cocktail hour and informational tour at the Landmark Center. See below for more details on enjoying free wine, appetizers, and live music later this week!  



In the spirit of collaboration, the Arts Partnership is hosting a cocktail hour and an informational tour for the four Partners’ Young Professionals organizations. Come enjoy free wine, hors d'oeuvres and live music while learning about the new concert hall being built at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.
