DARE TO FAIL ON THE ROAD TO DISCOVERY
Peter Sims
Join us for the most important hour-long experience of 2013. Minnesota is home to some of the most rapidly shifting demographics and widening disparities in the nation. Our community’s growing needs tell us that it’s time to work harder, smarter and more closely with one another to build a brighter future for Minnesota. What’s it going to take? A hunger for innovation, a willingness to take risks, a commitment to accountability and a good dose of resilience when we fail.
Join the Charities Review Council for this year’s Annual Forum as nonprofit, philanthropic, business, and community leaders come together to experience what it means to Dare to Fail on the Road to Discovery, with keynote speaker and best-selling author Peter Sims.

Meet Peter Sims
In his celebrated new book, ‘Little Bets,’ Peter Sims tells us that successful innovators (like the famous DC Central Kitchen, Apple CEO Steve Jobs, and architect Frank Gehry) all share a common practice: achieving breakthrough results by methodically taking small, experimental steps in order to discover and develop new ideas. Rather than believing they have to start with a big idea or plan a whole project in advance, trying to foresee the final outcome, they make a series of little bets about what might be a good direction. Innovators learn from lots of little failures and from small but highly significant wins that allow them to happen upon unexpected avenues and arrive at extraordinary outcomes.
Peter Sims is a strong supporter and a member of the national nonprofit landscape. With Minnesota’s own Bill George, Sims is the co-author of best-seller ‘True North: Discover Your Authentic Leadership.’ He is also a member of General Electric’s Innovation Advisory Panel and an Innosight Fellow. Sims cofounded Fuse Corps, a social venture that places entrepreneurial leaders on year-long grassroots projects to tackle some of America’s most pressing problems. Peter Sims will inspire us to start taking ‘Little Bets’ in order to build collective impact in our community.
