[Minnesota Rising Dispatch] June 2019

[#mnrising Dispatch] June 2019

This month’s solstice marked the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere, with Ramadan, Juneteenth and Pride celebrations recognizing how far we’ve come and yet to go in terms of ensuring equity, safety, and beloved community for all Minnesotans. Summertime is the local season for festivals, parades, (and road construction, to be sure) and coming out together to share common space and experiences: take advantage of the time and intersections to cultivate and steward the social connections that create better health for each of us as individuals and for all of us together as a vibrant and interconnected community. Wishing you and yours warmth and a deep sense of belonging to this land of 10,000 lakes and to one another!

Apply for RaiseMN Campaign Institute

Applications are now open for the next RaiseMN Campaign Institute cohort, which will begin in September! The Institute, now in its third year, is a year-long cohort offering expert fundraising coaching and peer learning to small- and medium-sized nonprofits working to build their fundraising strategy and infrastructure. Through the Institute, nonprofits work to build their overall capacity for fundraising where they have the most need—anything from thanking donors, to choosing a database, to learning how to do an in-person ask—building sustainable fundraising based on their specific needs. The deadline for application and all supporting materials is Friday, July 12 at 5:00pm. Accepting 2020 Citizens League Board Nominations

The Citizens League is a member-supported nonpartisan nonprofit organization that champions the role of all Minnesotans to govern for the common good and promote democracy. The Citizens League is governed by a volunteer board of directors, people with different backgrounds and ideologies who guide and direct the organization's work. The nomination period is now open for the 2020-2022 board term! Any current member of the Citizens League is eligible to be nominated for the Board of Directors. Nominations may be made either by another member of the Citizens League or by self-nomination. Submit your nomination by July 12! [Read more.]

Recruiting Cow Tipping Press Fellows

Are you—or do you know—someone who loves learning across cultural differences, is passionate about making the world a more equitable place, and isn’t afraid to get their hands a little dirty in the process? Applications to the second year of the mold-breaking, full-time, fully paid Cow Tipping Fellowship are now live. In the vein of AmeriCorps or New Sector, Cow Tipping Press will pair you with host organizations and coach you through a direct service experience this year’s Fellows have described as “beautiful and humbling” and “a huge learning curve—which is exactly what I wanted.” Apply by Monday, July 15!
