You're Invited | An Evening with Ka Vang: Artivism - Creating Community Through the Arts

Looking to inspire and be inspired? Join the Minnesota Humanities Center and tpt's MN Original for an evening with Ka Vang: Artivism - Creating Community Through the Arts. You'll hear from the 2012 Reading Together Book Project author of Shoua and the Northern Lights Dragon and walk away with a copy of her book as well as a copy of the MN Original segment featuring Ka!



An Evening with Ka Vang


Spend an evening creating art with Ka Vang, Twin Cities Hmong American writer, educator, and "artivist." During the course of the evening, Vang will read selections from her work, guide the audience in creating a community poem, and discuss how she uses her writings as a tool for social justice and to fight against injustice and oppression. Through interactive exercises, audience members will be encouraged to reimagine common folktales, stories, and poems in innovative ways.

An Evening with tpt's MN Original is a two-part series of events designed to celebrate and learn from Minnesota's creative community. At each event an artist from Twin Cities Public Television's award-winning weekly series MN Original will engage participants in an interactive discussion reflective of the artist's work.
