Network Partner Notes 2013: Minnesota Jaycees

The Minnesota Rising 2013 Un/Conference: Cultivating Capacity for Collective Leadership will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 10:00AM – 4:30PM at DLR Group offices in Minneapolis, MN. Hosted by and for emerging leaders, the Un/Conference will engage emerging leaders across Minnesota in an energizing day of innovative learning and dialogue, skill-building, and network-building with their peers!

Minnesota Rising is pleased to collaborate with Network Partners, emerging leader group organizations, to help cross-promote our parallel efforts to provide leadership development and community-building. In our Network Partner Notes, we highlight our 2013 Un/Conference Network Partners and their events in their own words!

TOYM … huh??

T is for Ten…

Ten community leaders between the ages of 18-40 years old will be honored this December at an annual recognition banquet hosted by the Minnesota Jaycees. That’s only ten out of approximately 1.6 million Minnesotans who are eligible for the honor!

O is for Outstanding…

This recognition program is for those who go above and beyond in areas that impact them and their communities. They excel. They stand out above the rest. They lead by example. They give back. They are innovators. They understand that we are stronger together. They are outstanding in a at least three of the following areas: personal improvement, economic innovation, social improvement, philanthropic contribution, voluntary or governmental service, technological contribution, legal reform, cultural achievement, academic leadership, athletic accomplishment, moral or religious leadership, and influence of public opinion (e.g. media).

Y is for Young…

It’s critical we recognize the importance and impact of today’s young people. Youth brings energy, vibrancy, innovation, and willingness to break the mold. What is young? In this case, we mean 18-40 years old (after all, 40 is the new 30!).

M is for Minnesotans…

Minnesotans are known for our kindness, our innovative companies, our agricultural background, and our strong commitment to service. Minnesotans are from all ranges and walks of life. That is why we are excited to have a program like this that honors leaders no matter where in the state they live or what their background…because anyone can be making an exceptional difference in their communities and our state!

Ten Outstanding Young Minnesotans (TOYM)
We will recognize and honor their impact in the community and our state at a public banquet on December 7, 2014. It’s an evening of inspiration and networking you don’t want to miss!

Minnesota Jaycees
The Minnesota Jaycees, a statewide, volunteer-run, membership organization that develops young leaders through community involvement.  As an all-volunteer grassroots organization, the Minnesota Jaycees offers the opportunity for a young person to find their own path in volunteering and service. While a grassroots organization, we also provide a connection to larger statewide, nationwide, and international impact. The Jaycees offers connection to mentoring, true ownership over work and connection to something larger than the individual-all things essential to the engagement of young adults in volunteering.
