Accepting Applications: Break the Bubble Board Members

Break the Bubble is seeking new board members to add to their cadre of ice-breaking and event-planning whizzes. Interested in helping local folks connect and make new friends? Read on to learn more about the opportunity and to see whether it's the right fit for you!

Break the Bubble wants YOU

To apply to be a board member

1. Do you love Break the Bubble?

Are you committed to Break the Bubble's mission of helping people make new friends?  Do you love planning events, with responsibilities such as putting all the details in place for promoting and communicating, coordinating event logistics, and hosting? Do you have ideas on how Break the Bubble can reach more people and offer a greater diversity of opportunities for people to make new friends?

Then the Bubble Board may be in your future...

2. Who's behind this?

Since our first event in June 2013 at Fulton Tap Room, we have held 17 successful events, hosting hundreds of people over the past two years. We are an all-volunteer, working board, meaning we volunteer our time, efforts, creativity and skills to make Break the Bubble happen.

We do this because we care about people who live in Minnesota seeking connection. We have always hosted free, accessible events, open to all, and plan to continue this model with a little help from... YOU! It takes a village to keep Break the Bubble going and we are seeking four new members to our team.

3. Get ready to plug in

Each board member is asked to "run point" on at least two events per year. Running point involves being the lead person who manages and coordinates event logistics and promotion. It takes about 10 hours for each event. Training on our communication tools (website, Eventbrite, Mail Chimp, Sign Up Genius, Twitter, etc) will be provided.

We are looking for people who will be committed to driving the future of Break the Bubble by coming up with new ideas and opportunities to grow. Special skills in social media coordination, communication, strategic planning are desirable but not a deal-breaker.

There are quarterly board meetings.
We are asking a minimum one year commitment to be a Bubble Board member.

4. Where do I sign up?
