Accepting Applications: Hopkins Social Marketing Advisory Board

Community Blueprint is recruiting for youth and young adults to serve on a short-term Hopkins Social Marketing Advisory Board. If you are or know of young adults between ages 18-25 who live and/or work in the Hopkins district, consider applying for or sharing this opportunity to help shape a unique local social marketing campaign! Hopkins Social Marketing Advisory Board Application

Community Blueprint, a public health communications agency, is teaming up with the Hopkins One Voice Coalition, a community-wide effort aimed at decreasing and preventing the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs among young people in the Hopkins Public Schools community, to develop social marketing campaigns around the dangers of alcohol abuse. One of the campaigns will be targeted to Hopkins High School students (10th-12th grade), with the goal of reducing underage alcohol use, and the other will be for Hopkins community young adults (18-25 not enrolled at HHS), with the goal of reducing binge drinking, and increasing the perception of harm of binge drinking. Position description We are looking for members to serve on our high school student and young adult advisory boards during April and May of 2014. Board members would be responsible for helping develop and implement the campaign, by assisting with messaging, overall planning/direction, potentially being a part of the actual marketing pieces, outreach strategy, naming and logo development. This development will occur over the course of multiple meetings - held at Hopkins High School or the Community Blueprint office in Minneapolis. Community Blueprint and Hopkins One Voice will create the marketing pieces over the summer and ensure they are ready to debut in the Fall of 2014 in time for the start of the next school year. Board members will be required to attend each meeting outlined in the board schedule. There may be some amount of homework, such as personal reflection or brainstorming, before meetings. As working board members, participants will be considered employees and will earn a gift card ($20 - high school, $40 - young adults) at EACH meeting. ------ Meeting Dates: High School Advisory Board (ages 15-18, grades 10-12) *Meetings held at Hopkins High School Thursday, April 10th - 2:45pm-4:45pm Thursday, April 17th - 2:45pm-4:45pm Thursday, April 24th - 2:45pm-4:45pm Thursday, May 8th - 2:45pm-4:45pm - this meeting may change or need to be longer depending on the pieces of the campaign that need to be created Requirements: - Must be between the ages of 15-18, and in grade 10, 11 or 12 at Hopkins High School - Must be able to attend all scheduled meetings - Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable with creative brainstorming in a group setting Young Adult Advisory Board (ages 18-25 - not currently a HHS student) *Meetings held at Community Blueprint in Uptown Wednesday, April 9th - 4pm-6pm Wednesday, April 16th - 4pm-6pm Wednesday, April 23rd - 4pm-6pm Wednesday, April 30th - 4pm-6pm - this meeting may change or need to be longer depending on the pieces of the campaign that need to be created Requirements: - Must be between the ages of 18-25, not enrolled at HHS, and live and/or work in Hopkins or its neighboring communities - Must be able to attend all scheduled meetings - Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable with creative brainstorming in a group setting Qualified applicants will be contacted for a Skype interview.
