South High School, 3131 S 19th Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55407
Theme:
Our organizing theme this year centers on racial justice. While workshops and campaigns will focus on various topics and issues in and related to education and social justice, we ask participants and facilitators to consider what racial justice means for you, the groups, collectives, and organizations you are a part of, and the work that you engage in.
Some context:
Inspired by the annual Social Justice Curriculum Fair in Chicago and many other places around the country, the IWW Education Workers Committee and Friends hosted the First Annual Twin Cities Social Justice Curriculum Fair at South High School on October 19, 2012. It was a fantastic success! The day was filled with high quality workshops, inspiring K12 educators, delicious food, and more than one hundred and twenty five participants from across K12 Education.
In response to constructive feedback from last year’s event, we changed the name to beinclusive of the diversity of approaches, strategies, working conditions, and people involved in struggling to transform K12 education. We learned a lot from the last go of it, and this year, we are planning for a bigger, better, and even more inspiring fair!
If you are interested in helping to organize the next fair and/or have ideas for making it great, let us know by emailing tcsjedfair@gmail.com.
You can also contribute to organizing by asking your fellow educators, youth workers, parents, caregivers, and community members to fill out this survey of interest.
