You're Invited: 5th Annual Neighborhood Smackdown

Tonight is National Night Out, America's Night Out Against Crime! Check out a partial listing of events taking place across the country, and in neighborhoods in Minnesota. There's no reason to leave block parties and get-togethers for just one night, however, and CURA's 5th Annual Neighborhood Smackdown next week is proof of that. See details below for how wrestling belts, neighborhood organizing, and you, too, can come together for the common good!

Join CURA for the 5th Annual Neighborhood Smackdown!

Thursday August 11th, 4:00 to 7:00 pm
The McKnight Foundation
710 South Second Street, Suite 400
Minneapolis, MN
Food! Fun! Wrestling Belts!
A Great Event for Everyone Who Cares About Neighborhood Organizing
What’s the best in neighborhood organizing and outreach? Have you done some amazing outreach over the past year, and are just waiting for the opportunity to share your story? Come learn from Twin Cities neighborhood organizations about how local efforts can create big changes on a whole range of issues, or come be a contestant and share your own neighborhood organizing story.
The format is simple: each contestant has two minutes to show and tell about a creative outreach and organizing strategy. Everyone wins and then we eat. The event is free and is open to everyone: board members, staff members, volunteers, youth leaders, and allies. If you care about neighborhood organizing, this event is for you!
The McKnight Foundation is generously hosting this event, which includes a barbecue overlooking the Mississippi River – a great time to network with other neighborhood organizations.
If you want to be a contestant or have a question contact Margaret Kaplan at 612-624-2300 ormkaplan@umn.edu
Please RSVP to Renee Richie at: 612-333-4220 or rrichie@mcknight.org
