[Minnesota Rising Dispatch] July 2017

[#mnrising Dispatch] July 2017

Drawing inspiration to fully embrace these days and this season from Mary Oliver's "The Summer Day," we leave you this month merely with an excerpt of her poetry:

I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

Cafe Conversations 2017

YNPN Twin Cities

It’s that time of year for a YNPN-TC member-favorite event! Join like-minded peers for small conversation circles at this year’s Cafe Conversations (Saturday, August 19, 10:00-12:00).There is a talk for everyone! The conversations will range from serious topics like racial equity and political advocacy to personal discussions about parenthood and the question "Am I still a young professional if I'm in my 30s?" Choose your own adventure from the full list of sessions (each has its own page where you can read a description of the session, learn about the facilitator, and register to participate). Each conversation will only have 10-15 participants, so make sure to register before your favorite session is full! [Read more.]

CARE Fellowship

CARE Collaborative

The CARE Fellowship aims to provide early childhood development and school-age care professionals an opportunity to connect the dots between early childhood development and school-age care public policy and the daily work of caring for and supporting children and families. Over 200 individuals from throughout Minnesota have graduated from the CARE Fellowship. Participants will learn how they can be effective advocates for the early childhood and afterschool fields when engaging and educating policymakers at all levels of government. Advocacy is about changing the conversation and defining the debate. Participants will learn how to use their voice and share their story to impact change. Applications for the 2017-18 cohort are due August 11. [Read more.]
