[Minnesota Rising Dispatch] April 2016

[#mnrising Dispatch] April 2016

We've recently completed our Greater Minnesota Rising research project and are pleased to share the results of the Environmental Scan and recommendations in the Final Report to engage emerging leaders in North and West Central Minnesota. We're especially excited to have been referenced in testimony last month by Ben Winchester as he spoke to the House Committee on Greater Minnesota Economic and Workforce Development Policy about rural migration trends. See below for more details about the "Brain Gain Bill" he advocated support of and visit the Greater Minnesota Rising webpage to see our recommendations and final report. In this election year, we're excited to be finding ever more ways to engage and invest in emerging leaders in communities across Minnesota!

The "Brain Gain Bill"

HF 2872

The Greater Minnesota Rising research project was referenced last month during testimony to the House of Representatives Committee on Greater Minnesota Economic and Workforce Development Policy. Ben Winchester testified in support of HF2872, the Greater Minnesota Workforce and Community Development Pilot Grant Program (also known as the "Brain Gain Bill"). The bill focuses on enhancing digital content in rural areas, as well as providing support for community development activities that strengthen resident recruitment. The meeting was recorded and Ben's testimony begins at 48:00.
